Three 19th century storefronts have been restored on the Haarlemmerstraat. MW architectuur provided the reconstruction drawings and a plan of approach.
This was desperately needed, because over the course of time the storefronts had been considerably boarded up and painted entirely white.
Colour research was an important part of the restoration. It was investigated which colours were present on the facades when they were still original, at the end of the 19th century.
The upper houses were also included, so that the colours of these too were mapped out at the end of the 19th century.
The result is a colourful whole, which is a nice addition to this part of the Haarlemmerstraat.
At the moment, the interior is still being rebuilt; flats will be added to the buildings.
