Week 07: restoration of shop front in Leiden

This historic shop front in Leiden is being restored by KOERS Leiden according to a restoration plan by MW architectuur.

Thanks to a subsidy from the municipality for the restoration of shop fronts in the historic city centre, it is possible to restore this façade.

The façade was sagging due to rust formation in the steel columns; so badly, in fact, that the large window had cracked under the strain of the skew.
Careful dismantling of the structure and repair of the steel has made it possible to support the façade again.

The next step is to repair the window frame and restore the original colours.
