week 05: restoration of shop front butcher's shop, Haarlem

MW architectuur was asked to draw up a restoration plan for the shop front of a former butcher's shop on the Leidsevaart in Haarlem.

The butcher's shop was converted into a residence many years ago, but the basis of the original shop front is still complete, including the tiling within the marble window sill. A special feature of the façade is the integrated sunshade, which will be pulled out with a pull stick. The intention is to restore this sunshade and make it usable again.

By restoring the façade, the appearance of this building will be greatly improved and a piece of history along the Leidsevaart will be brought back to life.

Once the restoration plan has been drawn up, MW architectuur will select a contractor and supervise the restoration work.
