week 04: the hidden room

Behind this small triangular window in the attic of a building on the Hoge Rijndijk in Leiden, a true princess room is being realised.
A large room was designed in the attic of this property, with the old rafters brought into view. The height has been used entirely for maximum spatial effect.
With limited possibilities to add daylight, a bright room has been created.

With extra attention to sound, the roof was post-insulated with wood-fibre boards. The room is heated with floor heating so there is no piping in sight.
