Restauration storefront Haarlemmerstraat, Leiden

The municipality of Leiden wants a beautiful city centre with beautiful shop fronts that give atmosphere and identity. The municipality therefore grants subsidies for the repair and reconstruction of hsitoric shop fronts.

MW architectuur, for example, has drawn up a plan to restore this shop front on Haarlemmerstraat. The storefront itself was in poor condition, because the underlying construction crushed the tiles due to corrosion. In order to preserve as much original material as possible, the original, still intact tiles were carefully removed and cleaned.

The rusty steel construction has been exposed, treated against rust and structurally packed in such a way that any rust formation in the future cannot damage the façade tiles again.

The wooden cladding has been restored to its original condition and completely varnished, in accordance with the original.

The tiles have been carefully sorted and the intact tiles have been returned. The new tiles are currently being produced. First a colour proof will be made, after which the tiles will be produced and assembled.

MW architectuur supervises this work from first plan to completion. Do you also want to repair or restore your shop front? We are happy to help you!
